Drum Birthing Ceremony - Sunday 8th October.

About Lou:

I am so excited to be hosting Louise Staker of She’s Medicine for this magical experience at The Sacred Space. Lou and I met a few years ago when she taught me all about Cacao and how to work with her in ceremony. We journeyed together over the best part of a year, meeting online to dive deeper and deeper into this wonderful plant medicine. Eventually we met in person earlier this year, when Lou co-led a stunning women’s retreat in Glastonbury. I rarely say yes to other retreats but when I read about Lou’s Circle of The Rose, I knew I had to be there. Lou brought her drums with her and we experienced the most magical sound as we drummed and sang at The White Springs and around the fire in the evenings. The drum has a powerful way of quickly connecting you to your heart beat and all that is alive within it. I think this could be the most exciting day I’ve hosted here yet and I hope you will be able to join us. I will be enjoying the day too and making my first drum, so lunch will be a communal affair where we will all bring a veggie dish and share each other’s home cooked veggie bounty!

The Day:

A beautiful day of Ceremony and creating, starting at 10am and closing by 8pm latest (closing time is left open to allow space to not rush drums…..)

We will open with a Drum Circle and Cacao Ceremony; setting intentions for our drums, before choosing our hoops and hides.

We will connect with them, honouring the animal and tree, tuning into what they need, bringing all parts together and crafting our drums with intention and love.

After birthing the drums we will craft beaters and journey together to meet the spirit of our drums.

All materials and tools for making the drum are provided.

Teas, Ceremonial Cacao and water will be available.

Lunch is a pot luck / food share- please bring a vegetarian dish and snacks to share (please advise of any allergies or requirements).

What to bring:

  • Please bring things to get cosy; sheepskins, blankets, cushions.

  • Water bottle

  • Altar items (flowers, crystals, photos, oils)

  • Items you may like to infuse or honour your hide and hoop with (oils, tinctures, flowers, crystals, feathers)

  • Favourite mug

  • Journal and pen

  • Any embellishments for your drum (a crystal, ribbon etc)

  • A stick for your beater.

  • Old Towel or blanket (for laying the hide on)

  • Comfortable clothes and layers

About the Drums - are they Ethical?

This was one of the first questions I asked Lou and she put all my concerns to rest. Please read more about where Lou sources her hides here and there is also lots of info about Shamanic Drums on this site too.

Cost:

The cost of the day is £250 pp - this includes all materials and tools to birth your drum, Ceremonial Cacao + herbal teas. In addition, we ask everyone to bring a ‘pot-luck’ veggie dish of your choosing. Sweet or savoury and we will share everything.
