Ceremony Theme:

Honouring the Light & Darkness in Perfect Balance

Join us for a deeply healing, Thresholders style, Yule-tide sojourn with the spirit of Cacao. We will come together in virtual circle in remembrance of this promise fulfilled - Light birthing from Darkness.

When you book this gathering you will receive an illustrated recipe card for making your cacao to bring to the ceremony plus a ‘The Longest Night’ blend of pure essential oils, specially chosen to capture the magic of this night and help us sink into introspection. These will be with you in time for the ceremony.

You can purchase your cacao here if you don’t have it already.

What to expect:

At The Thresholders we work with the ancient archetypal path of the Labyrinth. It infuses all our ceremonial gatherings. During our ceremony you will be invited to experience the four phases of journeying with the labyrinth.

The labyrinth is a sacred place set aside for you to reflect, look within, pray and negotiate new behaviour. Before our ceremony you are invited to set up your space so it feels safe, warm, inviting and most of all sacred. Bring your cacao, candles, blankets, crystals, oils, notebooks and anything else you might need for our time together.

The labyrinth is experienced in four stages and so our ceremony will journey in this way. Your mind is invited to a place of pure rest during this process.

Remember

Using the plant magic of Cacao we will sip together and take time in gratitude and giving thanks for our lives. Here, we can bless the people in our lives. If there’s a specific event or situation troubling you, now is the time to bring it to the fore.

Release

Here we use the ancient science of Kundalini Yoga mantra and meditation to actively and consciously release what no longer serves or what we feel any form of attachment to, in this case what holds us captive from the level of the mind.

Receive

In the Labyrinth this would be the centre. A place of reflection. Using the breath to drop down and with hearts fully open, here, we will pause and stay as long as we need. Opening to the higher power we can listen to our inner voice. A time for introspection, rest and receiving.

Return

A time for integration of your experience happens here. There will be time for sharing and card readings.

Will you sojourn with us at Yule and Make this your initiation ceremony for this inroad to a more spacious 2021? We hope so!

Winter Solstice was known to the Pagans as “Yule”. This ancient festival was a 12 day-long celebration beginning on the eve of the Winter Solstice and ending at the new calendar year of 1st Jan. This celebration was so important in ancient times that it was converted by the Christians to the 12 Days of Christmas.

At Samhain (Halloween) the Pagans honoured, celebrated and welcomed the descent into, and return of, the dark - they actually saw this as the beginning of the New Year, acknowledging that all beginnings emerge from darkness. At the Winter Solstice we reach the depth of that darkness with the longest night of the year. Darkness has reached its peak.

Now we start to wonder: “will this continue? Will the Earth grow darker and colder as the Sun disappears into the south until only darkness is left?” But at Yule a wonderful thing happens. The Sun stops its decline and for a few days it rises in about the same place. This is the crucial time, the cusp between events - a moment of perfect balance between darkness & light. The Sun stands still, and everyone waits for the turning.

In our heads we know the light will return. But in the darkness of Winter, can we be sure? Do our hearts believe what our heads tell us? Will the light keep its promises? We all have moments of darkness, when we don't know how much deeper we will go before the light starts to return (or even if it will). The world has moments too; it understands us, and lives as we do.

The Sun does start north again and the light comes back. In the world, in our lives, the light comes back. This is indeed something worth celebrating.

NOTE:

Please be aware that antidepressants are a contraindication when working with cacao. You should not consume ceremonial cacao if you have a heart indication. If you are taking any medication, please consult your doctor/ health practitioner before ingesting cacao. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or sensitive to caffeine and stimulants please let us know in advance. If any of the above apply, you are still very welcome to join and connect, and you can use an alternative drink for the ceremony.

This is not a traditional Mayan ceremony by any means, but is a beautiful way of partnering with Ceremonial-Grade Cacao to provide a safe and sacred space for opening the heart, emotional healing, connection, creativity and calming the nervous system

We are being joined at this Thresholders Sojourn by Laura Swan who will act as our Ceremony Coordinator. We are very grateful for her presence with us at this gathering.

Some of the profits from this event are being distributed to causes close to our hearts. Laura is donating her time in lieu of a donation to Team Kenya, working to educate girls, empower women and transform communities in Western Kenya. There is also a donation being made to Social Bite. All donations are included in your ticket price.
