Awakening our Shakti - Women's Kundalini Inspired Retreat Day

  • The Sacred Space UK Birnieknowes Farm, Cockburnspath TD13 5XH United Kingdom (map)

Join Bogi Fekete and I for a magical day sandwiched between Autumn Equinox and September’s New Moon. The energies will be truly super charged!

Bogi and met 5 years ago on our Kundalini Yoga Level 1 Teacher training and have remained friends ever since. Bogi’s Sadhana was always one of my favourite as she brings such magic and joy to her teachings. I can’t wait to hold sacred space with her here at The Yurt this September. We have a truly magical day planned out for you.

The Retreat Day Overview

This day will be centered around the Women’s teachings from Kundalini Yoga and infused with Ayurvedic wisdom.

We will spend the whole day in and around the yurt, close to nature and the elements, yet still protected to create our sacred space.

A Woman in harmony with her spirit is like a river flowing. She goes where she will without pretence and arrives at her destination prepared to be herself and herself only - Maya Angelou

Deep fulfilment for a woman comes from attuning to her relationship with her soul and nurturing her physical, mental and emotional health. From this space, she radiates from within and externalised concepts such beauty & success become more insignificant as she grows more powerful through her connection with herself. As we enter the new Age of Aquarius, which is ushering in a new level of consciousness on Earth, it has never been more important for women to step into positive self-empowerment with courage, caliber, creativity and prosperity and take a stand to help uplift the consciousness of all on our planet.

In this beautiful retreat day we will use the Kundalini teachings for Women to learn about, and harness, our Shakti - our feminine power or energy force. This power resides within us all, but is often untapped as we unconsciously navigate the stress and strain of modern life. This subtle energy force can manifest in many different ways and once she is awakened she can literally empower any practice, project or task. That’s when spiritual and creative growth accelerate exponentially. And that’s why learning to tune into your own Shakti is so life-changing. Added to this, we will enjoy plant medicine from herb infused cacao and Ayurvedic treats, a delicious Ayurvedic feast and practices to activate our parasympathetic nervous system (rest & digest state). You will leave with a goodie bag to enjoy at home.

What’s Included?

Optional Sadhana - 5.30am-7.30am

Sadhana is the yogic term for daily spiritual practice to achieve a higher state of consciousness. In Kundalini Yoga we use the ‘ambrosial hours’ before sunrise to elevate ourselves through yoga, meditation and chanting. These early hours are also called the ‘Amrit Vela’, when the Sun is at a sixty degree angle to the Earth and the energy put forth in Sadhana has supercharged results.

Practising Sadhana in a group setting serves to enhance group consciousness. Each of us has a different vibration and these individual differences balance out to create one harmonious unit.

We would love to offer you the opportunity to try this wonderful practice with us in the early morning before our day retreat begins and truly encourage you to experience this magical time of day. You will feel elevated, energised, energetically purified and ready for the day.

For those who wish to attend Sadhana, we will begin at 5.30am and end at 7.30am. You can then spend time in relaxation or take some time outdoors before we begin the full day event. it is a lovely tradition to bring food to share following our Sadhana.

Day Retreat - 9.00am-5.00pm.

The full day retreat will begin at 9.00am when we will come together and harness the magic of the morning with an activating & uplifting Kundalini Yoga class, incorporating Kriya, Meditation, mantra and relaxation - our focus throughout our time together will be on optimising our incredible female minds, bodies and souls. Before lunch we will take some time to talk, share and journal. If the weather allows, we will move outside to enjoy an Ayurvedic feast by the fire pit.

After lunch we will sink into the afternoon with herb infused cacao. The rest of our day together will also include a parasympathetic nervous system activating yoga session and a beautifully guided Yoga Nidra and guided meditation with sound bath, where we will connect deeply with our womb space to allow connection, healing and a more intimate understanding of ourselves. The womb space is the seat of all our creativity - regardless of whether the physical womb is there or not. It is also a space which can hold past trauma, even from lifetimes past. Being safely held to visit this space can allow for very deep healing and a new found sense of passion. A sharing circle will close out our time together.

We have lots of lovely little added extras for you to enjoy on the day and take home.

For those who would like to, we will then head to the beach for a swim to finish the day high with an invigorating hug from Mother Sea.

Kundalini Yoga

The purpose of Kundalini Yoga is to provide a modality by which people can achieve their maximum creative potential, free themselves from Karma (the lasting effects of past actions) and realise their life purpose - Pauline Drossart, Shakti School

To understand how Kundalini works, imagine you have a coiled snake in your spine. The Sanskrit word Kundal means “circular”. It can also be a noun for a coiled snake. The feminine kundali means a ring, bracelet or coil of rope. This concept was adopted as Kundalini into Hatha yoga in the 15th Century and by the 16th century it was used in the Yoga Upanishads.

These days Kundalini Yoga is a synthesis of many traditions and the Kriyas (sequence of postures designed to create a specific effect), meditations, breath work and mantras in Kundalini yoga are designed to raise complete body awareness to prepare the body, nervous system and mind to handle the energy of Kundalini Rising. Many of the physical postures are designed to activate the navel, spine and focal points of pressurisation on meridians. Through breath work and the application of yogic locks (Bandhas), the release, direction and control of the flow of Kundalini energy is achieved. The mantras are particularly helpful for women as we chant and open our throat chakras - many women suffer from blockages in this area resulting in difficulty speaking our truth and even physical issues with our thyroid and parathyroid.

The practice of Kundalini Yoga arouses the sleeping Kundalini Shakti from it’s coiled base through the six chakras that reside along the spine, and through the seventh chakra, or crown. Chakras are wheels or hubs of energy, through which energy or Prana travels like a superhighway to distribute energy throughout the body.

You do not need any prior yogic practice or knowledge to benefit from Kundalini yoga. It can be quite physical, but there are always adaptions we can make.

This will be a small, intimate day for up to 11 women.
